Haute Event: Live Like a Rock Star Weekend at the Mirage

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, guitarist Brian Bell, bassist Scott Shriner and guitarist Patrick Wilson appear at the Rolling Stone Hot Party at the Jet Nightclub at the Mirage.

Friday night was hot as the Mirage and Rolling Stone magazine kicked off the first-ever Live Like A Rock Star Weekend. To start the evening’s festivities, excited fans squeezed into Bare Pool Lounge, the Mirage’s daylife pool, in anticipation for a special performance by alternative rock band Weezer. Fans erupted as Weezer took the stage and played some of their best hits as well as tracks off their brand new album “Hurley.” Lead singer Rivers Cuomo was full of energy as he sprayed water in the air while jumping on stage and waving at adoring fans throughout the sold-out performance. Holly Madison, Josh Strickland and Lara Croft of E! Entertainment’s “Holly’s World” and Scott Porter of NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” were in attendance with each celeb singing along to their favorite Weezer hit. Porter had so much fun at the concert he later boasted to a friend, “Rivers Cuomo threw me a Red Bull during the concert.”

Celebs that didn’t attend the concert decided to take in other amenities at the Mirage before hitting the red carpet. Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” and close gal pal Hillary Weston relaxed at the Mirage Spa as they each indulged in an 80-minute Desert Stone massage.

MTV’s “The City” star Whitney Port and beau, Ben Nemtin of MTV’s “The Buried Life” enjoyed a romantic dinner at Onda. Also dining a few tables away from the cute couple was Blair Underwood, star of NBC’s “The Event,” along with Bam Margera and Giancola.

As the Weezer concert came to an end, celebs, VIPs and invited-guests headed to the 2010 Rolling Stone Hot Party at Jet Nightclub. First to arrive was Margera, star of the upcoming film “Jackass 3D.” According to Margera, indulging like a rock star means “putting on a bunch of flair” as he pointed to the various silver chains, cross necklaces, bracelets and rings covering the majority of his body. Next up were Jabbawockeez, along with celebrity choreographers and real-life couple Tabitha and Napolean D’Umo. Fittingly enough, the group hid mysteriously behind their white masks as the D’Umo’s talked about Jabbawockeez new residency at Monte Carlo and the fly dance moves that will be executed for their opening Oct. 7.

Making his way down the carpet next was Pete Wentz, founder of the band Black Cards. Looking cool in a black beanie, blue striped hoodie and jeans, Wentz was excited to be at the event and talked about how he isn’t partying like a rock star that much now that his 2-year-old son, Bronx, is running around the house. “He’s more of a rock star than me!,” Wentz said.

Arriving to the carpet right as the Weezer concert crowd cleared out were Madison, Strickland and Croft. Madison sparkled as she strolled the carpet in an adorable blue Alexander McQueen scarf, white tank, black ruffled mini-skirt and cute Mary Jane heels.  Strickland was right behind her as he posed for photos and answered a few media questions. How would he suggest indulging like a rock star? “Live in Vegas,” Strickland winked. “This is the place to be a rock star.”

Coming straight from their electrifying show, Weezer joined in on the red carpet fun. The group posed for a few photos and then headed into the nightclub to celebrate their amazing performance. After Weezer, former MTV VJ and recent newlywed La La Vazquez walked the carpet in a gorgeous black strapless dress, exquisite gold necklace, sparkly gold clutch and gold horned sling backs.

Right behind her was fan favorite, Giancola, looking svelte in a black Bebe long-sleeve dress and nude peep toe heels, flirtatiously smiling at the cameras and greeting all of her adoring fans before heading inside Jet. Others celebrities that hit the carpet were “Mad Men” Vincent Kartheiser, Underwood, Port, Nemtin, Porter and MGM Grand headliners Recycled Percussion.

Upon entering Jet Nightclub, all celebrities were greeted and escorted by a VIP host to a private table where they received bottle service and the luxury of a personal server. Giancola chatted it up with nearby pals as Port and Nemtin got cozy and held hands throughout the evening. The surprise of the night came when popular trio Swedish House Mafia thrilled guests with a private deejay set. Kartheiser was feeling the beat as he danced in the VIP section along with Vazquez and group.

But the party does not stop at Jet. Bare Pool Lounge continued the Live Like A Rock Star Weekend festivities with the Poolside Recovery Party on Saturday. Celebrity DJ KCRW entertained the recovering rock stars throughout the afternoon as they soaked up the sun.

Rock Star Weekend at the Mirage concludes Sunday, Oct. 3. For more information on the weekend agenda visit: http://www.mirage.com/rockstarweekend/.
