Haute Dining: OliO in West Village for Late Night Bites

OliO, as it’s name would suggest, is Italian eating at its finest. They recently launched their late-night menu (they stay open until 4 a.m.!). It’s perfect for haute foodies who are craving some good eats, after a night out at the hottest clubs, of course.

Chef Giulio Adriani dishes out satisfying plates like his Pizza Magherita (winner of the Italian and World Championship) and a spicy penne all’arrabbiata. My favorite on the menu was the angioletti, a fried pizza dough with tomato, garlic and basil. The restaurant also serves up a superb Pizza Mezzluna; it’s essentially a calzone that is topped like a pizza. There is smoked mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and inside the crust you get the pleasant surprise of ricotta and sopressata.

To wash it all down, the specialty cocktails are delish. I enjoyed the “Go To” made with cucumber vodka, St. Germaine, lime juice, and ginger ale, served with fresh cucumber and lime. We weren’t surprised to find that Dushan Zaric of the West Village hot spot Employees Only was behind the cocktail menu.

OliO is located at 3 Greenwich Ave. (between Christopher St & 10th St), 212.243.6546, www.olionyc.com.
