What Made Him Haute: You don’t need us to tell you the background about why he’s haute. What he’s been up to in 2010 to keep his haute factor relevant is the ongoing teasers, official announcements and updates regarding Apple’s new iPad, with the WiFi model that went on sale April 3,and the 3G version not far behind it. Only time will tell if Apple can once again deliver on its hype.

What Makes Him Haute Now: AT&T has been the exclusive wireless provider for the iPad since its launch, but Verizon has broken AT&T’s sole hold by announcing Thursday that Wi-Fi iPads will be offered at Verizon stores nationwide on Oct. 28. This happens to be the same day AT&T will begin selling the iPad at its retail locations. Verizon is selling the iPad and a MiFi 2200 mobile hotspot for the same price as the iPad 3G, and offering iPad data plans for $20. AT&T has been offering data plans starting at $15 per month. The deal is expected to boost holiday sales for Apple, Verizon and AT&T. Consumers anticipate Verizon selling Apple’s iPhone in early 2011.
