Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. On our Haute 100 Miami list is Paulina Rubio, the Mexican star who frequents the sunny beaches of Miami and dazzles audiences as “La Chica Dorada.”
Company: EMI, Universal Music
What Made Her Haute: Known as the Queen of Latin Pop, Rubio is one of the most prominent crossover artists to come out of Mexico. She got her first taste of fame when she was only 10 years old as a member of children’s group Timbiriche. She hit the U.S. airwaves in 2000, soaring up to No. 1 on the Billboard Latin chart and earning Latin Grammy nominations. She has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and her songs are often No. 1 on the Latin Billboard charts. She, like many other celebrities that reside in our town, can often be found attending the city’s highest profile events alongside her good friend Loren Ridinger.
What Makes Her Haute: The talented entertainer has just found another gig singing next to Taio Cruz. She has been recruited by him recently to fill in for Kesha, due to his desire to target a different audience for his Spanish version of the song “Dirty Picture.” Despite her growing baby bump, it looks like this singer loves to work non-stop.
