The biggest month for fashion is coming to an end with Paris Fashion Week wrapping up the Spring/Summer 2011 collections this week. But if you just can’t get enough of haute swags (and who can ever?), South Florida is throwing the Fashion Week after parties all of October. After all, there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing. Head to these local stores and venues to find the cures for your fashion hangover:
MEET AND GREET
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, get a chance to meet shoe god Giuseppe Zanotti at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton, where he will preview his Resort 2011 Collection from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Shoe Salon on One. You can get your own photo with the designer and your newly purchased Giuseppe Zanotti shoes signed. On the same day and also in Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca, Chanel’s world-renowned make-up artist, Yannick Lemaire, will preview the Holiday 2010 Makeup Collection from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Chanel boutique.
On Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, Neiman Marcus in Boca Raton hosts the Chanel Cruise Trunk Show: Cruise Collection of handbags, couture and shoes. Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables will do the same show on Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Yves Saint Laurent Trunk Show: Fall 2010 Collection of shoes is happening at Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables Oct. 5-11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Then on Oct. 18-19, get the sneak peeks to Oscar De La Renta’s resort collection from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Neiman Marcus in Coral Gables.
The W Fort Lauderdale hosts its second annual “Lipstick Lounge” benefiting the UM Sylvester Cancer Center, which promises to be an evening of cocktails, cosmetics, confections, and fashion. For the $35 admission fee, guests will preview designs from rising stars from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale as well as Mario Pucci Boca and Sole Sensations. Miami Fashion Week is trying a new thing this Thursday, Oct. 7, with the first annual Miami Style Awards at WET/Poolside at the W Hotel South Beach. The evening of fashion, food, and bubbly is co-hosted by fashion designer Julian Chang and Miami International Fashion Week (MIFW) founder Beth Sobol, with DJ Frank Delour spinning. If anything, it’s a chance to check out some of the cast members of The Real Housewives of Miami, as the evening is emceed by Housewives cast member Elaine Lancaster and honors Miami’s most fashionable women: Real Housewives of Miami stars Lea Black and Alexia Echevarria; shoe designer Lisa Pliner; activist Abigail Pollak; and successful beauty and fashion entrepreneur (and Haute Living’s ambassador) Loren Ridinger. On Oct. 13, Lilac and Lilies boutique in Fort Lauderdale will host a fashion show and luncheon benefitting PAWS and the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC). Thom Filicia of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy will emcee and host the event, which will include accessorizing runway models with pedigree pups and rescue pooches.
