Windy City Wine Festival Wraps Up Summer

The Sixth Annual Windy City Wine Festival is Chicago’s favorite way to wrap up the summer in style. And who wouldn’t love drinking outdoors in front of the iconic Buckingham Fountain along the lakefront? Set in the shadow of the breathtaking Chicago skyline, the Windy City Wine Festival features more than 300 international and domestic wine varieties, presented by more than 50 festival vendors. If you missed it this weekend, put it on your calendar as a must for next year.

Here were some of the standouts:

The Belgian Beer Café, a Belgium beer garden sampling Stella Artois, Leffe and Hoegaarden beers. Bart Vandaele, owner/executive chef of Belga Café in Washington, D.C., will highlight the natural affinity between Belgian beer and fine food as well as educate guests on proper beer pouring techniques, the importance of using the right glassware and food pairing ideas for Belgian beers.

Wildblossom Meadery & Winery

Wild Blossom Meadery & Winery was founded to produce the finest honey wines (Meads) in the Midwest. We are Chicago’s first winery and Illinois’ only meadery on the Northern Illinois Wine Trail. They utilize local honeys and fruits and collect nectar from the prairies of Illinois and the sand dunes of Lake Michigan. Wild Blossom is also part of Bev Art Brewer & Winemaker Supply, which teaches both beer and wine making classes where students make their own beer or wine in class.
