When You’re Haute, You’re Haute: LAT Food and Wine Fest

Mark Peel

When it rains, it really pours. Not only does LA have the four-day-long Taste of Beverly Hills celebration this weekend, featuring some of our best chefs and restaurants, but on Sunday September 5, food lovers will be torn between that and the annual Los Angeles Times Celebration of Food and Wine.

Held at the historic Paramount Pictures Studio in the heart of Hollywood from noon to 8 p.m., LAT Food &Wine offers cooking demonstrations and discussions with some of our most revered chefs, like Michael Voltaggio (Top Chef, The Langham), Mark Peel (Campanile, The Tar Pit–pictured above at a previous demonstration), Suzanne Goin (Lucques, Tavern, A.O.C., the Hungry Cat); up and coming Top Chef vets Betty Fraser (Grub), Chris Jacobsen (The Yard) and Alex Reznik (Café Was), as well as Animal’s notorious Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo and Rivera’s John Sedlar, local favorites like Loteria Grill and Mo-Chica, PBS chef Tommy Tang, and even Food Truck stars like Dosa Truck, Coolhaus and Worldfare.

There will also be sampling from over 30 wineries and spirits, and discussions with experts like Mathew Kaner & Dustin Lancaster of Los Feliz’s hip new Bar Covell and Jonathan Mitchell of The Palm.

You’ll be able to buttonhole LA Times Food Editor Russ Parsons and other staffers, even the manager of the LA Times test kitchen (They have a test kitchen? Who knew?).

And after everything else, Angela McCluskey and Zoe Deschanel’s She & Him put on a show!
