The phenomenon has officially gone south…down South that is, as the immensely popular frozen yogurt franchise Pinkberry finally opened the doors to its’ first Atlanta location. Much like the cupcake trend, frozen yogurt is definitely the “treat of the moment.” According to my West Coast affiliates all fro-yo is not created equal though. Think of Pinkberry as the Prada of the frozen yogurt industry. Coveted by celebrities, CEOs and socialites alike, in five short years it has taken the industry by storm one tasty scoop at a time.
Perhaps what set them apart from look-alikes and competitors are their unique flavors and healthy toppings. While their signature original flavor is the fan favorite, green tea, pomegranate, passionfruit and mango are also delicious experiences. Keeping fully in line with the company’s pledge to healthy snack options, toppings range from fresh fruit (cut and served fresh daily), mochi, craisins, granola and organic gummi bears. Pinkberry is also packed with live and active cultures granting them an approval rating from The National Yogurt Association.
Located in the Akers Mill shopping center, opening day earlier this summer saw a line down the block. However, it was worth the wait as all patrons were treated with free frozen yogurt. Not in the mood for fro-yo? No worries, because you also have your pick of smoothies, parfaits and fruit bowls. With party season fast approaching, the catering service offered is much appreciated for those large functions where dessert is the main attraction. Not to mention the cold days upon us when leaving the car is too much of a hassle, which calls for the ever-personal curbside service. In just a little over two months, the new Pinkberry location is so successful that there are already plans to open a second store this fall at Merchant’s Walk in Marietta. As someone who has a ridiculous sweet tooth, I can not get enough. What better way to indulge in decadence than with a treat that is non-fat and healthy to boot! Your lips…and your hips will thank you.
