Craving chocolate, cheesecake, or creme brulee? If you’re like me and can’t seem to complete a meal out or special occasion without a sweet treat, than this is the Haute 5 for you. We’re sharing the most sinful, decadent, melt-in-your mouth desserts in Honolulu.
Roy’s Restaurant: Chocolate Soufflé
Fortunately, I grew up by the original Roy’s restaurant and have been a steady regular since my early teens. I always looked forward to family dinners at our neighborhood restaurant. We’d sit in the downstairs lounge, order pupu (appetizer) style, listen to live music, and anticipate the end of the meal for a dreamy dark chocolate soufflé. To this day, I still hit the bar for a Roy’s Reserve glass of wine, small portion of butterfish atop dirty rice and the oozing with chocolate signature dessert. My sweet tooth simply can’t resist the Roy’s chocolate soufflé.
The Original Roy’s is located at 6600 Kalanianaole Hwy., www.roysrestaurant.com, 808.396.7697.

This is a sinful secret that I’m happy to share. Most patrons visit intimate Formaggio for its cheese plate, panini, thin crust pizzas and of course the wine! But, this spot seriously delivers some of the most mouth-watering desserts like the cinnamon rum bread pudding, dense flourless chocolate cake, chocolate fantasy and bananas foster in buttered rum. Also, a haute date spot, don’t neglect to order a sweet treat for your sweetheart during your next night out at Formaggio Wine Bar.

Orchids Restaurant: Coconut Cake
You haven’t had coconut cake until you’ve had a slice of Orchids Restaurant’s coconut cake with raspberry coulis. A fluffy, fantastic delight, the infamous coconut cake is the only way to end your meal. If you decide to skip dessert at Orchids and opt for a nightcap at the nearby Lewer’s Lounge, the dessert list here never fails to impress. The nightcaps and live jazz offer the perfect ending to your evening, plus you can order almost anything a la Orchids (aka: the coconut cake) here too.
