Imagine visiting Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory, but within a much more refined and elegant setting. It is a reality that can once again be recognized as the Langham Hotel re-opens its Chocolate Bar for the 21st season, offering one of the most wonderfully indulgent weekend delights in the city. The banquet of chocolate officially returns to the Langham’s Café Fleuri on Saturday, September 12th from 11am-3pm, and continues every Saturday through June 26th.
This year’s theme pays homage to come of the city’s most memorable neighborhoods, aptly titled “Boston’s Chocolate Trail”. Highlighted neighborhoods include Chinatown, the North End, Faneuil Hall, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, The South End and Fenway Park.
Executive Pastry Chef Jed Hackney has included many traditional favorites to the selection, as well as some clever new additions. One of Chinatown’s new selections is Dessert Sushis in mango, strawberry, chocolate and green tea flavors. The North End tribute is fittingly a chocolate pizza with the works: white, milk and dark chocolates topped with roasted pineapples and candied citrus (hold the pepperoni on this one, naturally).
To prove not every treat is dripping in chocolate, for those whose sweet tooth leads them elsewhere, the Faneuil Hall offering is a fall New England tradition: cider donuts and hot mulled apple cider. Perfect for the brisk autumn days ahead of us. But when I make my trek over, I am going to make sure I leave room for the Fenway Park: homemade crackerjacks with dark caramel, peanuts and sea salt; chocolate covered peanuts and ice cream sandwiches.
Other noteworthy options include Pumpkin Milk Chocolate Torte, Indian Pudding, Cranberry White Chocolate Buckle and Dark Chocolate Frangelico Mousse Cake.
Delights are served in bite sized portions, making it easy to try a wide assortment of flavors in this all you can eat indulgence. Adults are $38 each, Children 4-12 are $25 and children under 4 are free.
