Garden Party: Cocktails in the Garden 2010

Just when you thought the whimsical feelings and beautiful atmosphere of the spring and summer season was over, the floral aficionados at Atlanta Botanical Garden are giving you a couple of weeks (and a couple of last chances) to bask in nature’s glow. Cocktails in the Garden continues its’ final leg for the next two weeks with a little something for those who like their flowers to come with a lot of fun…and food too!

Every Thursday in September, Atlanta Botanical Garden hosts it weekly series Cocktails in the Garden, where guests can enjoy a number of activities while perusing the gorgeous garden grounds. On September 23, the theme of the evening is Mocha & Mudslides, which features a host of cool things that involve everyone’s’ favorite decadent treat, chocolate. Start things off visiting the new exhibition Chocolate: Seed to Sweet which shows origins of all our favorite sweet treats as they derived from the cacao tree. Next, head on over to the Chocolate Market where leading chocolate suppliers in the Southeast provide goodies for tasting and purchase.

Once the sun sets the Gardens’ true beauty is revealed. Partake in the sultry Atlanta skyline on the exclusive Canopy Walk, sample ambitious appetizers in the Edible Garden and enjoy the floral standouts within the Cascades Garden. After all of that strolling, the time comes to dance! Atlanta’s own DJ Swivel takes over the turntables and spins the hottest jams sure to lure even the shyest dancer to the floor. In demand mixologists and restaurants offer select cocktails and tapas (chefs from Market, Goin’ Coastal and Bocado are featured this month) to keep festivities flowing. Cocktails in the Garden is from 6 to 10 p.m. with Garden members free of charge and non-members a small fee of $15 at the door. Full cash bar and on-site parking is available. Ends September 30.
