No matter what time of year it is, there’s always room for a beer. But if special brews had a holiday, it would be Oktoberfest, so it’s no better time to list the Top 5 places in Dallas to get a cold one. Beer me.

1 The Flying Saucer

The top of the list goes to this Addison favorite, due to their incredibly robust brew list, boasting over 100 genomes of gastro goodness. In fact, those who are members of their UFO Club are urged to get recognized for reaching the 199 mark- meaning they tried 199 different beers at that location (now that's commitment.) Some new drafts on their wall include 512 Pecan Porter CASK and Breckenridge FS 15th Anniversary Part 2, and if you're looking to watch the game, check out their gigantic projection screen. It's any sports fan's dream house.

2 The Common Table

A newbie and a goodie, The Common Table took over the quaint little Uptown house that Lola's previously possessed, and beer lovers couldn't be happier. Dallas restaurateur Brian Twomey, also the founder of Plano's Loft 610, helped to create this concept, based on the local pubs in London (the red detailing on the outside of the restaurant is actually the same paint they use on London phone booths, and was reportedly very expensive). So it's no surprise their beer selection is vast and respectable, and they even offer flights of brew for those who can't make up their minds on which IPA, porter or ale to sip on.

3 The Gingerman

Uptown's The Gingerman is one of a string of such pubs located throughout Texas, and definitely deserves a spot on this list. Have a pint outside at their beer garden, and enjoy your selection of one of their dozens of Belgian ales and lambics, microbrews and German beers. Check out live music on Saturdays, and drop in on Sundays for Mystery Beer Night- draw a number and drink whatever you pick.

4 The Meddlesome Moth

Another new installment to the Dallas scene, the Meddlesome Moth in the Design District not only has an incredible food menu, but 40t draft beers and 75 bottles to partner up with your chilled poached tuna or rabbit meat pie. The best part is the fact that dishes are listed next to suggested brews so there's little room for error here. Extra cool factor: The stained glass windows inside, borrowed from the old Hard Rock location, picturing  Elvis and Chuck Berry. Rock on.

5 The Old Monk

It's not hard to get a beer on Henderson Avenue, but if you want a grand selection there's no better place than The Old Monk (sorry, Vickery Park, you were close). The funky decor, comprised of lights from a Pennsylvania monastary, a back bar from a chemist's shop in Enngland a turn of the century altar door, makes this a fun place to have a pint. Their giant burger is basically famous, and the extensive beer list, ranging from hand pumped Cask Conditioned Ale to Chimay White and Crispin Cider, is bound to satiate anyone's tastebuds.
