Art beCAUSE Gala Set for October

The fall is a season of galas, balls, fundraisers and parties galore.  Here is the first one you should be sure to add to your agenda: The Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation 8th Annual Gala. The evening is being dubbed “The Art of Fantasy: Imagine a World Without Cancer” and takes place on Thursday, October 14th at The Castle at Park Plaza.

The evening will be catered by Gourmet Caterers and features a silent auction, the Seed the Scientist Grant, as well as celebrity chefs in residence Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger restaurant and TV’s Simply Ming and Michael Schlow of Radius, Alta Strada, Via Matta and 606 Congress restaurants. There will also be live performances by James Montgomery and Friends and Ernie and the Automatics (that’s Ernie Boch Jr., local car dealer extraordinaire) as well as other special guests still to be announced.

Tickets to the event are $150 per person and are now available for purchase online.

Art beCAUSE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on determining the environmental causes of breast cancer.  90% of all women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease. This was an unknown fact to Executive Director and Co-Founder of Art beCAUSE, Eleanor “Ellie” Anbinder, who was diagnosed with cancer 17 years ago.  She helped to create the organization in 2000 to help fund research to identify and eradicate the environmental causes of cancer.

Throughout the year a host of artists donate their works of art to help fund the cause. From painters to photographers, the giving of artists’ creativity to fuel the creativity of scientists is a remarkable pairing of seemingly unlike worlds. And yet, it seems like a fitting collaborative when considering how the ravages of cancer can bring together the strengths of the community.
