I first met Val in the ocean surfing the waves off Waikiki. After years of knowing here I have come to the conclusion that she is a true renaissance woman! Ms. Loh is a gifted surfer, a professional photographer with an amazing eye and a mother. When I heard that she had launched a jewelry line I was intrigued. Once I saw her mindful creations I was very impressed!
Val finds creation from the world around her and it is reflected into her exquisite designs. One of the great things about Val Loh Designs’ blog is that she shares the inspiration behind the handiwork. Val shares how antique glass beads became a pair of one of a kind earrings, and how reading a book on dream-catchers inspired her to interpret it into a delicate necklace. In the designer’s own words, “I’ve created a necklace that captures the style and positive energy of dream-catchers with dainty seashells and lustrous freshwater pearls. Here’s to a happier, healthier, and all-around wonderful new year, where we make our good dreams come true!”
Custom creation requests are a favorite of the designer she finds it a design challenge! “When someone asks me to make something for them, it gives me food for thought, and I can take it from there. This lariat necklace with large peacock Biwa pearls in sterling silver was a commissioned piece that I created after receiving the basic info of what she wanted: Sterling silver, lariat, pearls.”
One of her most recent design challenges was to create something beautiful for non-pierced ears. I think you will agree designer Val Loh hits high marks and is ready for your design challenge. Val Loh Designs are available at select boutiques on the islands of Hawaii; Barefoot Dreams at Kaimana Beach, Cina Cina at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Silver Moon Emporium, Therapy at Kahala Mall, and the Volcano Garden Arts Center.
