Dean Gardens, the iconic Johns Creek Estate which has been on the market for years, was finally sold. The buyer: Atlanta’s own multi-talented film and TV mogul Tyler Perry. According to reports, Perry paid $7.6 million, which is quite the deal considering it was originally list at $13.9 million. Apparently, he will be tearing the entire 32,000- square foot mansion sitting on 58 acres of land and building his dream home from scratch. Features of the Dean Gardens Estate include two carriage houses, a wedding chapel, an Asian Tea Garden and an 18 -hole golf course. The mega-estate was originally built in 1992 by technology entrepreneur Larry Dean and his wife Lynda but they were separated before construction was complete.

The news that Tyler Perry was the undisclosed buyer of Dean Gardensin July became public  this week. And apparently, he will be tearing down the iconic Mega Estate very soon.

But before Perry breaks down the walls, people will be able to tour the neo-classical Atlanta mega- mansion one last time. On Friday, August 20 and Saturday August 21, Luminosity Atlanta will host a 2-day farewell gala complete with light displays, aerial dance and live performances by gloATL. Additionally, patrons will be able to tour the estate and purchase all the pieces and trimmings inside and out of Dean Gardens.  Attendees this weekend will get a glimpse of the rooms, some of which cost $5 million to fill, including the carousel-themed nursery, a diner-inspired game room with a jukebox and soda foundation and the peacock room. Some of the notable sale items include artwork by Todd Murphy, pieces from the Fabulous Fox Theatre, a piece from Dale Chihuly and a 24-karat gold-plated sink in the estate’s Malachite bathroom.
