Every now and then, we all need to splurge on a great burger and fries. Atlanta is filled with options tempting us every day. In the past year, burger boutiques have been popping up all over town and making it quiet hard to resist. Whether you enjoy a no frills-burger or you love the new-age burger trend (think foie gras on your burger), here are five of Atlanta’s best restaurants burger and fry splurges.
1 Flip Burger Boutique
Top Chef Alum Richard Blais pretty much started the burger boutique trend in Atlanta when he opened Flip Burger Boutique. The choices at Flip range from pretty typical, such as a beef burger with caramelized onions, to a very adventurous burger with foie gras. And considering Blais defines a burger as anything ground that is served on a bun. This includes seafood, veggie and all sorts of other burgers. The menu changes with the seasons, so expect to see some cool new menu items next time you go. And don’t forget about the sides. Favorites include traditional fries as well as a variety of fresh salads. Save room for the milkshakes. You can’t leave without trying one of the unique flavors such as Nutella and Burnt Marshmallow, Krispy Kreme or Chocolate Mole.

2 Farm Burger
Located in Decatur, Farm Burger is another great and “healthy” spot for your burger fix. Farm burger is the first to bring grass-fed, hormone-free and locally raised burgers to Atlanta. We like the simplicity of the build your own burger choices on the menu. Or if you prefer, they have some combos already paired up for you. At Farm Burger, you even have your choice of fries, such as sweet potato fries or FB fries with spicy garlic, herbs and parmesan. We love the kid-friendly laid back atmosphere and kid’s love the lil’ cheeseburger made especially for the lil' farmers.

3 Yeah! Burger
Local Chef Shaun Doty of Shaun’s restaurant has opened Yeah! Burger on the Westside. If you have ever tasted his food, then you know his burgers are divine. In fact, it was name by Bon Appétit one of their favorite burger spots in America. Yeah! Burgers serves a perfectly simple menu of burgers and fries and all the surrounding goodies that match. To order your burger, you first choose your patty (they offer everything from beef and bison to turkey and veggie), then your bun (Southern white, whole wheat or gluten-free) and finally top it off with a variety of options. Don’t forget about those hand-cut fries or the old-fashion desserts. My personal favorite is the Brown Cow float, which is organic vanilla ice cream with Root Beer. Yeah!
4 Grindhouse Killer Burger
Grindhouse Killer Burgers gives us another reason to venture downtown. Trust us, it is well worth the trip inside the Auburn Curb Market for this juicy and delicious burger. Tucked away inside the Sweet Auburn Curb Market you will find stools at this small curved counter. This simple spot is perfect for the no-frills burger and fries joint. Simply enjoy your beef, cooked to order, and be on your way. That is after you sip on the impossibly thick (and heavenly) milkshakes.

5 Vortex Bar & Grill
This edgy bar and grill has been known in Atlanta for its burgers since it opened first opened in 1992. With two locations, one in Midtown and the other in Little Five Points, the customers in these spots can be just as worth the trip as the burgers themselves. From the buttoned-up yuppies to the bikers and body piercings, everyone converges here to enjoy great food and great energy. The burgers here are simple and great. They also have an extensive beer list to complement that juicy patty.
