What Made Him Haute: He is an enduring musical legend with a career that spans decades. He got his start in San Francisco, and, while he is currently holding residency at the new Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, his Milagro Foundation, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, is based in San Rafael.

What Makes Him Haute Now: If you are of the belief that they just don’t make good music anymore, you’re in luck. On Sept. 21 Carlos Santana will release Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, which features a reworking of the best songs from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Doors, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and more. To help bring a fresh sound to the original songs, Santana collaborated with Clive Davis to pull together some of today’s biggest rock talents including Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Gavin Rossdale and India Arie just to name a few. This week the all-star cast put on a promotional concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Anyone who wants to hear their favorite classics with a “Santanian” twist should check out his new CD.
