Famous fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger is producing 1,000 handmade, limited-edition books to celebrate 25 years in the industry.
What Made Him Haute: He took a vision of classic American sportswear and made it into one of the world’s most recognized lifestyle brands. In 1995 he won the CFDA Menswear Designer of the year. He married his second wife, Dee Ocleppo, on Dec. 12, 2008, and in August, they welcomed a baby boy, Sebastian Thomas Hilfiger. Then in September, he opened his new global flagship storefront on Fifth Avenue.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Tommy Hilfiger is celebrating his silver anniversary in fashion by producing 1,000 handmade, limited-edition books. The book, “Tommy Hilfiger,” is reminiscent of a scrapbook and will come enclosed in a linen box. Within the pages are personal pictures and hand written narrations from the designer, as well as quotes from the likes of Vogue’s Anna Wintour and pop star Britney Spears. Hilfiger says the book has intimate appeal, “This book is a culmination of my life’s work, sharing some of my innermost thoughts throughout the years…. [It’s] the equivalent of telling a friend about my family.” For $550 fans get a close look at five decades worth of Hilfiger’s life, as presented in the book’s 144 pages and 200 illustrations.
