Former White House Social Secretary Acquires New Position as Chicago Publishing CEO

In the tough times of print media, Desiree Rogers was named the new CEO of Johnson Publishing, the publisher of Ebony and Jet magazines. Here to hopefully breathe some life into the dying media, Desiree intends to shake up the timeless publications with a new breath of desire. Rogers recently resigned from her post within the Obama administration last February after taking the fall with the secret service for the infamous Real Housewives of DC White House Gatecrashers incident at the President’s first state dinner.

A longtime Obama family friend, her former husband was Obama’s Inaugural Co-Chair and a former teammate of Michelle Obama’s brother Craig Robinson on the Princeton University basketball team. Rogers previously served as President of Peoples Energy, headed up the Illinois Lottery and was an Executive at Allstate.

Extremely active in the community, Rogers is a board member of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, the Northwestern Memorial Foundation and The Polk Foundation. She also serves as Vice-Chairman of the Lincoln Park Zoo and on the executive committee of Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.  Rogers was also a major contributor in the Chicago Olympics bid committee, to which she donated more than $100,000.
