It’s good to see some local boutiques carry pieces by Dallas designers. What’s even better is seeing some Dallas designers create their own boutique–inside a shopping mall. That’s the legend of Elli Grace, a store inside The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano that opened last year at the hands of designers Sue Yang and Lamarr Nanton. The duo crafts innovative, couture pieces for the style-savvy woman, bringing 5th-Avenue fashion to North Texas. Think flirty yet sophisticated, contemporary with a classic flair.
Yang and Nanton had stints at Donna Karen and Armani, respectively, before meeting at Manuel Designs and deciding to branch off with their own line. When the boutique opened in June, Yang used the narrow space in the back of the store to hand stitch all the dresses found in Elli Grace (the labor has since been moved to a local factory), ensuring every garment is a unique item to be treasured.
Elli Grace is now announcing their Fall Trend Report for 2010, in tandem with opening their online store so shoppers nationwide can partake in the fine fashions. Javante, who won the “New Face for Elli Grace” competition, is shown above in a picturesque beige getup that’s destined for autumn air. The theme for fall is ruffles and lace: airy, frilly skirts and dresses that will make an easy transition from summer to cooler temps. Add to that a funky, wide belt, and you’re set to flow.
