Arizona Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald to Trade Football for Filet Mignon

Announcement: Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be trading a football for filet mignon – for one night, anyway. The “Second Annual Larry Fitzgerald & Friends Celebrity Servers Night at Morton’s The Steakhouse” will be held Monday, August 30, and benefit the Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund and the Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund.

Joined by his Cardinals teammates and their celebrity friends, NFL wonderboy Larry Fitzgerald will be serving four sumptuous dinner courses to Morton’s guests that evening, as well as hosting an exclusive V.I.P. reception beforehand. The menu includes such fine hors d’ oeuvres as tuna tartare canapes, miniature crab cakes and crostini with roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil. Guests will thrill as the evening continues with Colossal Shrimp Alexander, a mixed field greens salad and double-cut filet mignon, served with mashed potatoes and steamed fresh jumbo asparagus. A delightful trio of desserts – New York cheesecake, double chocolate mousse and fresh seasonal berries with sabayon sauce – will bring the feast to a sweet and satisfying close.

The price is $300 per person to attend the general cocktail reception and dinner (6 to 9 p.m.), and $400 per person to attend the V.I.P. reception with Fitzgerald and the other celebrity servers, in addition to the general cocktail reception and dinner (5 to 9 p.m.), with proceeds benefiting the two funds nearest and dearest to Fitzgerald’s heart.

“I’m thrilled Morton’s is partnering with me on two causes which mean so much to me and my family – the First Down Fund and the Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund,” Fitzgerald says. “I’m bringing a great group of players and coaches with me again this year, and many of them got their first experience as servers during last year’s event. I know our guests will enjoy a special night for two wonderful causes.”

The Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund was established in honor of Fitzgerald’s mother, who helped people with AIDS while she worked for the state of Minnesota. The Fund reaches out to those suffering with AIDS, as well as breast cancer survivors and urban youth in need of a quality education. The Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund supports healthy children and their families by providing funds for computer equipment, vision care and other activities crucial to the healthy development of youth.

In addition to Fitzgerald, celebrity servers for the event will include Arizona Cardinals Coach Ken Whisenhunt, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, defensive end Calais Campbell, new outside linebacker Joey Porter, wide receivers Steve Breaston and Early Doucet, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, guard Reggie Wells and running back Beanie Wells, as well as former Cardinals quarterback and future Hall-of-Famer Kurt Warner.
