The Milk Mustache Mobile Tour has hit San Francisco and Food Network star and local celebrity, Tyler Florence will be making appearances around the city. The tour is travelling coast-to-coast from March to September in an effort to promote “Milk the Moment”, a campaign to encourage families to make an effort to spend mealtime together. They also aim to show parents the health benefits of choosing low fat milk as a dinnertime beverage.
The tour will be setting up camp today in Justin Herman Plaza located in the Embarcadero. They will provide free health assessments from registered dietitians, tips on how to cook healthy family meals, active games for the kids, relaxing chair massages, and milk smoothies. Families can also register to win the “Milk the Moment” contest for an opportunity to share their family’s milk moments and potentially win a dinner with local chef Tyler Florence.
Florence, who recently opened Wayfare Tavern, will be present today at the event to pose for Milk Mustache photos and to sign autographs for fans from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. He will also be present at the event again from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. If you miss him today, he will be appearing at their next stop, the Panhandle at Golden Gate Park, from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.on Friday, July 9.
In addition, the tour has set up a virtual “Pass the Gallon” campaign on Facebook. For every gallon of virtual milk that is passed along, the tour will donate $1 to Feeding America.
