Rumor Has It: The New Boutique Resort Opens in Vegas

We don’t want to start any blasphemous rumors, but Las Vegas has a new boutique resort catering to a more laid-back crowd. Rumor opened this weekend across from the Hard Rock Hotel in the former St. Tropez Hotel. Think Las Vegas meets Palm Springs.

The entrance features original artwork set in a lobby that feels more like an ultra-lounge only brighter in whites and ivories. Natural light shines through the lobby.

The resort has Addiction, the breakfast, lunch and dinner spot from chef Vic Vegas. Addiction’s signature dishes include crème brûlée oatmeal, Cuban reuben, sea bass satays and Kurobuta karmal pork. A painting of a hot pink knife, fork and spoon takes up one of the walls.  A private dining room seats 12 and features chandeliers and an oversized high communal table.  The main restaurant spills out into the courtyard for indoor and outdoor seating.

Outside in the courtyard, you can find a pool area, wet deck and lawn, all shrouded with matured palm trees. By day, it’s your regular pool area, but by night, deejays and live musicians perform under the lights. You can even stay here with your pets. The resort has an outdoor dog run, customized in-suite bowls and plush dog beds.

Half of Rumor’s 150 suites face into the courtyard and feature either a balcony or a patio. The corridor walls have cool decals and houndstooth carpeting. Inside the suites are decorated with gray-hued walls with lavender patterns and carved wall medallions sit above the bed. Warhol-inspired chandelier art and sleek furniture decorate the rooms. Oversized bathtubs are surrounded by mirrors. You even get a basket of sugary treats in your room.

Later this summer, Rumor will unveil the Fantastic Four Suites by designer Mark Tracy of Chemical Spaces. Each will showcase captivating architecture with bold square lines in the flooring, beds and ceilings. The suites stick with the gray, black and silver base tones punctuated with bold accents of pink and purple.

Rumor is located at 455 E. Harmon Ave., 702.369.5400. For room reservations or more information, call 1.877.99.RUMOR or visit www.rumorvegas.com.
