Quincy Jones Visits Audemars Piguet To See the Watch Bearing His Name, the Millenary Quincy Jones

As the icon who graced both Haute Living‘s most recent covers for the New York and Los Angeles editions, Quincy Jones is celebrated as a legendary producer, musician, composer, and overall man of style. Though best known for his impact in the music world, Jones’ friendship with the 135-year-old Swiss watch company Audemars Piguet has always been a strong one due in part to the company’s attention to detail in their manufacturing of timepieces.

Recently, Jones visited the watchmakers in Manufacture Audemars Piguet to congratulate them on their superb work and uncover the secrets behind the watch created for him, the Millenary Quincy Jones. With the help of art director Octavio Garcia and input from Jones, the watchmakers were able to create a piece detailed with modern lines and a sleek design. The Millenary Quincy Jones also pays tribute to the musician’s legendary career. With its most notable feature being the contrast between the brilliant and satin-polished surfaces, the watch plays on the idea of notes on the keyboard of the piano.

During his trip, which involved a workshop tour, Jones marveled at the watchmaker artisans’ skillful techniques used to make the timeless pieces found at Audemars Piguet. He described his experience with the creative individuals as synonymous with playing the role of a producer to musical artists.

The Millenary Quincy Jones will also aid in Jones’ philanthropic efforts through the development of “Project Q.” Aimed at promoting public knowledge of young adult’s desire for creative freedom and self-expression, the main incentive of “Project Q” is to support children in reaching their fullest potential. Presented by Audemars Piguet, the “Q Prize” will be given to a public figure or organization that has positively impacted the life of children. Jones will also use the Millenary Quincy Jones to establish funds for the Quincy Jones Foundation.
