Protein is a Haute Topic

Protein, plain and simple, it does a body good. This is not to say that you should skip your lima beans and brussel sprouts, or never eat pasta ever again, but protein is an essential part of every cell in the body. It is a key ingredient for muscles, bones, cartilage, skin and blood. You need protein to make enzymes and hormones, as well as repairing tissue. Also, my favorite benefit is that your hair and nails are made mostly of protein. Do you want your locks to grow long and lovely? Problem solved, up the protein intake.

I do this by waking up every morning and blending up some breakfast with fresh berries, a little fresh-squeezed orange juice and a heaping scoop of vanilla whey. This is my morning day in and day out. Protein shakes are all the rage. These little shakes are so haute right now that they have become 2010’s Pinkberry. You can catch everyone from Halle Berry to Jared Leto attributing their haute bodies to this miracle mixture.

BUT buyer beware: Consumer Reports has conducted a study and three of 15 brands of protein shakes tested were found to contain potentially high levels of the hazardous arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury. The three products were Muscle Milk chocolate and vanilla powder and EAS Myoplex Original.

If you are a frequent consumer of these products, you may want to cook an omelet or take a sip of my recipe. Think before you drink.

Note: JBN’s Whey Superior was tested and passed with flying colors.
