The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering

Although the Quail Lodge’s hotel portion has closed, the 8th-annual event, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, will still go on. As a tribute to sports and racing cars, the show displays some of the finest sporting automobiles, with vehicles that can be test driven on local roads by guests. This year, the event will highlight the Milestone Cars of 1934, and German Race Cars Featuring Nürburgring, and the 45th Anniversary of the Shelby Mustang. Throughout the entire event, guests can dine al fresco on specialties by The Quail’s award-winning culinary team.

On Friday, The Quail Lodge will also host the Bonhams & Butterfields Auction, with a special preview at 11 a.m. on Thursday. The auction will feature fine jewelry and watches, in addition to car memorabilia and rare, historical automobiles.

Tickets

Adult Admission (including event, parking, wine tasting, fine cuisine, and auction access) $400 per person.

Children 12 years and under $75.

If you plan to make it to any auction over the weekend, the Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction should top your list. As the world’s leading exotic and rare car auction house, Gooding & Company has auctioned off thousands of luxury and vintage cars over the past 20 years. Last year, more than $50 million in sales were generated at this auction, including the sale of a $4 million 1933 Alfa Romeo Drop Head Coupe, and a $5 million 1962 Ferrari California Spider. This year, the auction will feature five special consignments from Italian luxury auto brands— Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, and Lamborghini—plus a vintage Mercedes-Benz that was previously jointly owned by the Marx Brothers, and much more.

Previews begin Wednesday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and continue Thursday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and Friday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m)

Viewing officially begins Saturday (9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), with the auction starting at 5 p.m. Viewing continues Sunday (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) with the final auction starting at 6 p.m.

Automotive Fine Arts Society Exhibition

The Lodge at Pebble Beach, 1700 17-Mile Drive

The annual exhibition is held by the Automotive Fine Arts Society, a small group of local artists who specialize in automobile artwork (painting, sculptures, photography, etc).
