Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Exclusive: Happenings at the W

If there was ever action at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, it was at the W Hotel & Residences. Thursday kicked off the fashionable week with a shindig featuring top models and VIPs in attendance. Diesel showed their spring 2011 swim and intimates collection on Friday and decked out the pool area with lounge pillows and models laying on floaties. To complete the decor, Diesel brought in a large ice sculpture of Michelangelo’s David sporting the Spring 2011 Fresh and Bright underwear collection.

To top the night off, Diesel brought in 10 synchronized swimmers, all wearing the new Spring 2011 swimwear collection, to perform before and after the runway presentation. The synchronized swimmers performed to a remix of Passion Pit’s remix of California Gurls and Lisztomania’s Alex Metric remix. Toni Praver also celebrated her line with supermodel friends Julie Henderson, Jessica White and Lorenzo Martone.

Actress Lindsay Price and model/designer India Hicks turned out at W on Friday for the Melissa Odabash show. They both sat front row and chatted about the looks before heading up to a private dinner in the penthouse hosted by W Hotels Global Fashion Director, Amanda Ross, and UK-based swim wear designer, Melissa Odabash. A group of select VIPS – including Frederic Dechnik and Laure Heriard Dubreuil of The Webster, Paul Bacardi and Food Network star, Ingrid Hoffman, LA socialites Jill Roberts and Sarah Emaunuel, Dee Poon, Susanne Birbragher, Vogue Latino America’s Eva Hughes, and Ocean Drive’s Suzy Buckley sipped Grey Goose Vodka cocktails and champagne while W’s Global Music Director, Michaelangelo L’Acqua, spun tunes from the recently launched Symmetry CD. Also spotted at W was Lorenzo Martone, Lance Bass, Jessica White, Tori Praver, Julie Henderson, Dennis Rodman and Wilmer Valderama at WALL.
