Mitchell started the firm in 1992 as its sole designer. “In retrospect, I was ambitious for my age and had my own perception of how I would run my own business,” he says. “I feel that the client/designer relationship is very personal and the successful projects require more than simply beautiful furnishings. I wanted the ability to over-deliver to my clients through the integration of furnishings and architecture.”
Ambitious, but genius. After only a few years in business, Mitchell earned a reputation for being the designer to call for jobs that required more than what a standard interior decorator could offer. Although the company has since grown in size, Martin Perri Interiors still remains a boutique design firm, with Mitchell as the principal designer for every project the team works on. “My first-time clients learn very quickly that the balance between creative ability and technical precision must exist,” Mitchell says. “I can spend 10 hours one day developing color and furnishings, and 10 hours the next day in meetings with the builder, architect, and trades professionals on the job site. Everyday is a little different and I find that inspiring.”

Many of the projects begin during the initial planning stages for construction and remodel, although Martin Perri Interiors also works on smaller, purpose-built projects, such as single-room enhancements or custom home furnishings.
