The China Arts Foundation welcomed the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Tuesday, July 13, as they performed on the Great Lawn in Central Park. As part of the 2010 New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks, the 80-member orchestra, led by the conductor Long Yu, is in New York for a week. Yu was accompanied by pianist Lang Lang who performed one of the solos. The concert brings the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to New York as an ambassador for its city and also commemorates New York City’s naming of Shanghai as New York’s newest “sister city.”
