Company: World Cinema Foundation

Industry: Film

What Made Him Haute: Critics and film scholars have called him the greatest living American director, several of his movies occupy spots on the AFI’s list of greatest movies, he finally got that Oscar for 2007’s The Departed, and, thankfully, there are no signs of him slowing down.

What Makes Him Haute Now: Scorsese’s most recent masterpiece in production, Hugo Cabret, can boast a star-studded cast as just one of its most alluring features. Starring beauties such as Emily Mortimer, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jude Law, Hugo Cabret is described as an adventure film with live action 3D. The film, which will be released in December 2011, is based on Brian Selznick’s New York Times best-seller and steps it up a notch through Scorsese’s use of semi-polarizing technology.

Although known for his gritty yet sophisticated films, the Oscar-winning Scorsese directed the commercial for Chanel’s new Bleu de Chanel men’s fragrance. It will be interesting to see how the director pairs his style with that of the Parisian fashion house known for their haute couture goods. The commercial airs in September and stars French actor, Gaspard Ulliel.
