Haute 100 Miami Update: Michelle Bernstein

Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. One of Miami’s Hautest and most creative chefs, Michelle Bernstein, is keeping things exciting for the locals this summer.

Category: Originators

Company: Michy’s & Sra. Martinez

Industry: Restaurant

What Made Her Haute: Michelle Bernstein is a Miami native and a James Beard Foundation winner for Best Chef of the South, 2008. Lucky for us she has remained  local. With two very different styled restaurants but similarly amazing results, Bernstein has helped to keep the fire burning for Miami’s food scene with creativity and ever changing local and fresh menus.

What Makes Her Haute Now: Michelle Bernstein has not forgotten about the locals. During the sluggish months between now and September Bernstein has once again proven to be a champion for the Miamians. Michy’s has brought back $36 Endless Fried Chicken on Wednesday nights for the remainder of the summer. Bottomless sides include the heat quenching watermelon, tomato and feta salad, coleslaw and cornbread. Wednesday’s don’t get any better. But Tuesdays do. Sra. Martinez has joined in with $35 All You Can Eat Spanish Barbecue. Every week the main dish will change. One week she might have classic Cuban pig roast and the next lamb on the grill. You will want to check in every week to see what’s haute. Nothing says Miami like locals taking care of locals, and Bernstein knows how to do it.
