Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. As co-chief executive and principal architect of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, super-agent Ari Emanuel never ceases to stir hype in the entertainment industry.
Company: William Morris Endeavor Entertainment
What Made Him Haute: The prominent talent agent represents everyone from Martin Scorsese, Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon, and Larry David to Michael Moore, Jude Law, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, and Sacha Baron Cohen. His colorful business tactics are said to be the inspiration for the Ari Gold character on HBO’s Entourage.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Ari Emanuel continues gaining strength as one of the (if not THE) leading power brokers in the entertainment industry. Besides his star-studded client list, Emanuel is part of an effort to initiate a three-strikes law against illegal file-sharers. He recently did some serious lobbying for the Live Nation-Ticketmaster merger, which was approved by the U.S. Justice Department in June. WME’s hot ticket was also involved in recent buzz regarding client Mel Gibson, who is no longer a client, and ESPN’s, The Decision. Emanuel upholds his decision to air LeBron James’s special claiming killer ratings, major success for advertisers, and $6 million in revenue, which benefited several charities. After all, there was never any backlash Emanuel couldn’t handle. When he’s not busy being a force to be reckoned with in his business endeavors, Emanuel’s alter ego — Jewish Zionist and environmentalist – can be found at the gym, on the golf course, or hosting political soirees with the likes of brother and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in attendance.
