Lake Tahoe When It’s Haute

Lake Tahoe is one of the country’s favorite vacation spots in the Summer, but it’s especially popular for residents of the San Francisco Bay Area, who can get to Tahoe in just a few hours by car.

Here is our list of the best summer activities in Lake Tahoe.

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival celebrates its 38th anniversary this year, showcasing the outrageous comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and live music, ranging from funk to classical. It takes place on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe from July 9th, 2010 through August 22nd, 2010. Surrounded by panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and snowcapped mountains, the Festival brings world-class performing arts to one of the most picturesque amphitheatres in the world.

Other popular Tahoe festivals to keep an eye out for during the Summer and early Fall include: Wanderlust Yoga and Music Festival and Valhalla Festival (which features theatre, music and comedy).

Here are some other fun Summer activities:

Paddle Boarding on Lake Tahoe

Paddle boarding is huge in Tahoe now and there are a lot of events surrounding the activity, which you can learn about at gotahoenorth.com. And there’s a really cute  shop in Incline called Adrift Clothing that can outfit you!

Canoeing and Kayaking is also huge, and Tahoe Adventure Company offers historic tours around the lake.

The Sierra Cloud on Lake Tahoe

Locals love to take the Sierra Cloud from the Hyatt out for a tour around the lake.  You can visit action-watersports.com to get the boat and sailing cruise rates.

And a great place to take a tour during the Summer is The Thunderbird Lodge, a gorgeous historic estate with a rich history dating back to 1936.
