Haute Hygiene

I’m not really sure when it started to become socially acceptable to not brush your teeth, but apparently I missed the memo and will definitely have to sit this one out. When a certain blonde that was once a pop star turned reality star turned entrepreneur admits out loud that she cleans her pearly whites every three days, I tend to wonder if this was the sexual napalm that her rock star ex-beau spoke so highly of. If so, GROSS. Regardless, hygiene is something that just goes without saying. In my OCD world if you do not possess it please stay very far away from me. All joking aside not brushing your teeth is not only disgusting and unacceptable, but it may be hazardous to your health.

Ignoring this daily habit may be linked to heart disease. A new study has proved that skipping out on this twice daily habit may cause inflammation in the mouth and gums that is directly correlated to developing clogged arteries, and that can lead to heart attacks. Pretty intense and makes sense considering everything seems to be connected in the human body. Researchers suggest that those with poor oral hygiene are more likely to develop heart disease then those who brush twice a day.

I would like to say, that this is the first time that researchers have looked into the relationship between frequent teeth brushing and heart disease. There is more research that has to be done; however, it is something to keep in mind when skipping it and heading straight to bed. It makes perfect sense that people who follow a healthy lifestyle are more likely to take care of their teeth. In my mind staying informed and taking precaution is definitely not a dumb idea. Doing everything to prevent heart disease is definitely not something to take lightly. Until next time my friends, visit www.raylenebartolacci.com. To health and wellness, Salute.
