Capable of handling parties ranging from 15 to 225 persons, The Stockyards Restaurant is an Arizona steakhouse with a storied history and an atmosphere to match. A unique location for a rehearsal dinner, anniversary party, or other momentous event, this luxe Phoenix landmark remains a symbol of the Old West, opened in the 1950s by Edward Tovrea, known as the territory’s “Cattle Baron.” Tovrea designed the restaurant and its accompanying saloon in the style of the old days, and today it exists as an elegant fine dining establishment serving gourmet comfort food.
For parties, The Stockyards has three different rooms that can be reserved in any combination: the Rose Room (up to 55 persons), the Cattle Room (up to 80 persons), and the Gold Room (up to 70 persons). Hosts or hostesses may choose from three, four, and five-course menus, with an extensive wine list also made available. For your guests, choose from such enticing entrees as filet mignon with a whiskey peppercorn demi-glaze, herb-roasted chicken breast with a tarragon pan gravy, salmon with a citrus chile glaze, lobster tail, scampi-style Southwestern shrimp, and twice-baked potatoes. Of course, you also have your choice of appetizer, salad, soup, and dessert courses.
Just picture yourself visiting with guests at The Stockyards’ 1889 Saloon (pictured above), featuring a long, hand-carved mahogany and cherry wood bar below an exquisite cut-glass chandelier. Tovrea named the saloon for the year he began his cattle business, when he was just 17 years old, and is said to have modeled the back of the bar after another historical saloon in Superior, Arizona, whose age dates back to the turn of the 20th century.
