A New Kind of Thunder…The First Annual Chicago Beach Polo World Cup

For the first time ever in Chicago, polo players from around the world will come to compete on the sands of North Avenue Beach in a custom built arena three football fields in length.  Polo Life of Miami, Florida, has produced the prestigious Miami Beach Polo World Cup since 2005. In their sixth year, the Polo Life team will officially make the Chicago Beach Polo World Cup a sister event.

Regarded as one of the most unique and glamorous events, this luxury affair will attract spectators from across the globe to experience the excitement of the “sport of kings.” From the inception of the Chicago Polo Club in 1895, the Chicago area had a love affair with this noblest of horse sports with polo clubs in upscale suburbs like Evanston, Lake Forest, Cary and Barrington.

Beautiful horses, North Avenue Beach, the spectacular skyline –who could ask for anything more? The city and suburbs have a lot of competitive players, games, and fans (and a stellar track record right now- can you say Hawks and American Idol?) and what a way to keep the momentum rolling.

And if that wasn’t enough, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Best Buddies® Illinois, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Tournament Matches will begin on Saturday, September 11 and the closing ceremony will take place the evening of the 12th.
