Party Cove on Lake Lewisville

The equivalent to boating on Bourbon Street, Lake Lewisville’s “Party Cove” is an all-summer hotspot for good looking people wanting to have a good time. Yacht and boat owners leave the 121 pier and head out to the cove congregation, tethering up to one another so party goers can traipse from one floating venue to the next, sipping champagne and meeting new people. Note to newcomers: always a good idea to keep the onboard bathroom a private luxury.

Texas Hill Country/Austin

The Texas Hill Country is possibly our best kept secret. Centrally nestled in the heart of our state, the area is full of rolling hills and steep vantage points, not to mention plenty of river space for tubing in New Braunfels (try the Comal, the horseshoe-shaped stretch of river that only takes about three hours to tube, versus the Guadalupe.) For a quaint, in-the-thick-of-it experience, stay in Fredericksburg at one of their numerous B&B’s, or for a more metropolitan stay choose the bright lights of Austin, also a stone’s throw from plenty of places to swim, fish, hike and hunt. It’s all a bit of a drive, but totally worth it.
