Alas, we were not in St. Tropez to fete the Chanel 2011 Cruise Show, but we were feeling the spirit when browsing the countless photos of celebs and models that gathered in the French resort town.
Lets make one thing clear. When Chanel is in town, they go all out, entertaining their guests with lavish dinners, runway shows, and hopping after parties. To kick off the festivities in St. Tropez, Karl Lagerfeld and Co. hosted a game of bocce. Remember the bocce set we showed you back in March? Well, of course the CC emblazoned set was on hand for the competitive game. Diane Kruger, looking tres chic in her head to toe Chanel ensemble, kept the game alive with her competitive edge. Rumor has it she was bouncing around all evening, high-fiving her adorable boyfriend Joshua Jackson. Other notable competitors were brand ambassador Vanessa Paradis, Lagerfeld muse Baptise Giabiconi, and Amanda Harlech, plus a troupe of fashionable editors from around the world.
But what of the Cruise show? Lagerfeld—who says, “Saint-Tropez is about freedom—dress code included”—sent models down the runway in diaphanous print chiffon dresses and bare feet. What followed was a steady stream of 60s and 70s-inspired looks; CC-logoed bell bottoms, chemise dresses, wide-leg pants, tubular dresses, lots of white cotton accessorized with lovely Chanel jewelry, long sundresses with tiered skirts, and, of course, the requisite Chanel tweed.
Can Monsieur Lagerfeld do no wrong?
