Best Dressed: Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala

We already showed you the creations imagined by Thakoon, Rodarte, Sophie Theallet, and Alexander Wang, all for Gap, for last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. But now we turn our attention to the evening’s best dressed—whether on the arm of a dapper gentleman, or designing man, these women look stunning

Diane Kruger is always a red carpet favorite, and in this year’s stark white Calvin Klein frock she radiates simple elegance—and with Joshua Jackson on her arm who could take their eyes off of her? Anne Hathaway dazzles in Valentino, while Emma Watson looks splendid in Burberry. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rachel Bilson hit all the right notes in their Louis Vuitton numbers, and Taylor Swift is America’s sweetheart in neutral Ralph Lauren. Another duo to watch was on-again couple Sienna Miller and Jude Law—Sienna wore a navy Emilio Pucci gown with Solange Azagury-Partridge jewels. Gisele looked every bit the slamming super that she is in a mini Alexander Wang getup, complete with hunky husband Tom Brady in tow.

Naomi Watts and Kate Hudson both chose Stella McCartney, and Chanel Iman sparkled in a plunging Michael Kors jumpsuit. Blake Lively stuck to her red carpet favorite, Marchesa, in a daring cobalt mini. Keeping it sweet and simple was Camilla Belle in a red hot Jason Wu gown. Halston’s latest creative director, Sarah Jessica Parker, went with a metallic pleated gown and Fred Leighton vintage baubles.
