Ahoy Mates: Giorgio Armani Designs Uniform for Azzurra Sailing Team

We already told you about Giorgio Armani’s super-cool collaboration with Reebok, EA7/Reebok. But now we have more news from the Italian designer. He announced today that EA7 Emporio Armani would be the official supplier of clothing for the Azzurra sailing team, the Italian racing team that debuted during the 1983 America’s Cup.

Armani, who has already outfitted Italy’s 1994 World Cup soccer team and the 1999 Britain Newcastle United team, is no stranger to technical sport design. And he hopes the uniforms designed for Azzurra’s crew will live up to the philosophy of EA7. Says Armani, “I am very pleased with this new collaboration that demonstrates our determination to unite the philosophy of EA7, the cutting edge brand in the field of technical sports clothing of the highest quality, with the experience and competitive spirit of the all-Italian Azzurra team.”

The team will show off their chic new garb starting with the Louis Vuitton Trophy races off of La Maddelena in Sardinia. And for those of you lacking the nautical skills—or the Italian genes—to participate in the water-based sport, Armani has you covered. He has created a special capsule collection inspired by the Azzurra uniforms, and they will be on sale at select Emporio Armani stores this June.
