2010 Cannes Film Festival Premieres Il Gattopardo

The 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival debuted the newly restored version of Luchino Visconti’s Il Gattopardo, with support from Gucci; the film has undergone an extensive 4K digital restoration at Sony’s Colorworks Digital Facility. Originally premiering at the festival in 1963, the film then garnered critical acclaim and received the Palme d’Or, the festival’s highest honor.

Frida Giannini, Gucci Creative Director, was joined on the red carpet by the film’s original cast including Alain Delon (Tancredi Falconeri) and Claudia Cardinale (Angelica Sedara). Martin Scorsese was also on hand to introduce the film at this year’s festivities.

Celebrity guests adorned in Gucci gowns included Camilla Belle in a midnight blue silk sable one-shoulder gown, Kate Beckinsale chose a silk georgette antique white gown, and Frida Giannini looked stunning in a floor length strapless gown with draped back detail and accentuated with a unique piece from Gucci’s fine jewelry collection. Other stunning celebrities in attendance included Salma Hayek, Lea Seydoux, Aishwarya Rai, Danny Huston, and Benicio del Toro, among others.
