Out of the Humidor: Zino Platinum Scepter Series Master Edition 2010

Out of the Humidor: Zino Platinum Master Edition 2010

Since its launch in 2002, the Zino Platinum line has been creating new innovative ideas in packaging, blending and flavor.  Made in the Dominican Republic by Davidoff, Zino Platinum made its debut with the Crown Series line of cigars.  Cased in metal 3-packs, these trophy cigars really raised the bar for creativity.  Their unique formats, incredibly complex flavor, and high price helped carve out a new designation of premium cigars; now referred to as “Super Premium”.  The following year the Scepter Series was released.  These beautiful smokes were launched in smaller formats and in larger quantity units.  While maintaining a similar blend and flavor, they were a bit less expensive and more available compared to the Crown Series.

In 2007, Zino Platinum created its first limited edition in the Scepter Series called the Master Edition.  It was an exceptional cigar that sold out quickly.  This year’s release is no exception.  The 2010 Zino Platinum Scepter Series Master Edition is a very limited release at only 1,000 boxes of ten cigars for the United States. This is the fourth annual release under this brand.  Each year the Master Edition brings a new experience to its loyal fans who seek out this special smoke as soon as it hits shelves.

At 5 1/4″ x 50, this beautiful Robusto smokes with a medium to full body and medium strength with a unique brightness to its rich flavor. The cigar features aged filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Peru, Nicaragua and Honduras, a Connecticut Broadleaf Binder, and a special sun-grown Criollo wrapper grown in Ecuador.  Though very smokeable now, these will no doubt continue to develop in their complexity over time in your humidor.  The 2010 Zino Platinum Crown Series 2010 Master Edition is available at premium tobacconists for $145 per box of ten cigars.  http://www.zinoplatinum.com
