Jimmy Choo’s Leading Lady, Tamara Mellon, Gets a Promotion

It was announced today that Tamara Mellon, formerly founder and president of Jimmy Choo, has been promoted to founder and chief creative officer. Mellon, who began the luxury shoe company in 1996, has been a dominant force in establishing the brand as one the most sought after producers of sexy stiletto heels.

Like her previous position, Mellon will continue to oversee Jimmy Choo’s brand image, including product design, public relations, and advertising campaigns. Creative director Sandra Choi will maintain her role in product design, reporting to Mellon and chief executive officer Joshua Schulman.

Schulman says, “Today’s announcement acknowledges the important contribution that Tamara makes to our brand images and design process. This new title is a better reflection of Tamara’s responsibilities and accomplishments at Jimmy Choo. Together with our creative team, she has been at the forefront of developing product and marketing, which has fueled growth of the company.”

In recent years Jimmy Choo has released covetable handbag and sunglass collections, desired by fashionistas around the globe. The chic and classic designs are in sync with the superior shoe collection, and are a testament to Mellon’s strength in pushing Jimmy Choo into the forefront of the hautest luxury goods.
