Jil Sander Expands with the Launch of Jil Sander Navy

Will the real Jil Sander please stand up?

When Jil Sander forfeited the rights to her eponymous label in 2004, it left the fashion world buzzing. Who would continue the designs for this successful women’s brand?

After a period of turnovers, Raf Simons stepped up, and has produced critically acclaimed collections under the Jil Sander label. Now, it was announced, Simons will grow the brand with the launch of Jil Sander Navy. What’s expected is a chic, streamlined collection of unconstructed outerwear, lightweight jerseys, and knitwear including t-shirts, dresses, trousers, skirts, jackets, coats, and jeans. Expect plenty of casual trenches, all in the simple aesthetic of its big sister. There will also be a selection of accessories, handbags, footwear, and belts.

Alessandro Cremonesi, CEO of the Jil Sander Group, reveals, “Jil Sander Navy incorporates the values of purity, simplicity and ease. Adding and developing the aspect of casual luxe to the brand’s DNA of highest quality and forward innovation with enhance the reach of the brand.” The collection is set to debut in Jil Sander boutiques next January, and the company hopes that it will hit US and Japanese retails the following summer.
