iPads Revolutionize Checking in at the InterContinental

Even if you don’t consider yourself a techie, you’d have to be living under a rock to not know that iPad mania hit retail shelves over the weekend, selling more than 300,000 units in the past two days.

But the iPad bug wasn’t limited to Facebook and Twitter fanatics. The obsession over the new gadget even reached folks over at the InterContinental hotel chain as they’re planning on stocking their concierge desks with iPads instead of desktops.

The famously recognized hotel chain is looking to equip four of their hottest locations with trial iPads for their concierge staff. InterContinental New York Barclay, InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, InterContinental London Park Lane, and InterContinental Hong Kong will be featuring the hottest technology in town and if it works better than the desktops, the iPads are there to stay.

A spokesman for the chain said recently that they wanted to make sure the iPads didn’t replace the human touch that comes from [their] concierge teams, but enhance their jobs and make it easier for them to deliver better.

The InterContinental brand is hoping that the iPads will be faster and easier to use when it comes to pleasing customers with more accurate directions, reviews on restaurants, and faster processes of checking in and out of the hotel.

Next time you stay at an InterContinental hotel, you can thank Apple for the faster service and the better directions.
