Haute Highlights: Swizz Beatz

With the April/May edition of Haute Living New York about to hit newsstands, we went ahead and uploaded some haute features onto the website. After all, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on Swizz Beatz’ musical evolution just because you couldn’t pick up one of our glossies.

The feature “One on One” story highlights the career of this music mastermind, and delves into the blessed life of Swizz, the DJ, producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, artist, and designer.

Some of you may not know that Swizz got his first break working for his uncles’ Ruff Ryder’s record label during his teens—a position that landed him his first producer credit with DMX’s chart-breaking hit “Stop, Drop.” Or that Christian Louboutin is a great friend. Or that he has collaborated with such music greats as Gwen Stefani, Eminem, and Britney Spears. Not likely choices for the Bronx native, but Swizz says it best: “Music is something that should stick with you and represent a moment in time. I need to raise the bar for that. I need to personally take the risk to make those sounds and take those elements where everyone is over there, but Swizz is over here.”
