What MADE Him Haute Credited with revolutionizing the entertainment and hospitality industries, Schrager burst onto the scene in the 70s with his club Studio 54. He has since redefined the boutique hotel genre, and his residential projects, such as 40 Bond and 50 Gramercy Park North, make national headlines. Schrager reportedly inked a deal in May of 2009 with Murray Hill Properties LLC, a New York City real estate investment firm, to develop a six-star, ultra luxury hotel at 1414 Avenue of the Americas.

What Makes Him Haute Now He is expanding his empire once again. On April 1, he acquired the Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago, which happens to be one of the new markets that Haute Living is covering online. The new property is in one of Chicago’s highest-end neighborhoods, which is set to get even hauter once Schrager completes the planned renovations to the legendary hotel and its world-famous restaurant, the Pump Room.
