Fit for a King: The Haute 5 Presidential Suites in Dallas

Of course a lot of things would be different if you were president. But besides all the policy changing and filibustering, you’d probably stick with what works: the private jet, the television appearances, maybe even that big white house (with a couple decor improvements, obviously.)

Luckily, you can still enjoy the five-star treatment without being the leader of the free world. In Dallas, such luxury is easy to find, in the form of Presidential Suites: those incredible sprawling hotel rooms listed as the best of the best. So whether you’re visiting the big D or just taking a weekend to get your head straight, feel free to live it up and press PH when you get in that elevator. You deserve it.

Rosewood Mansion at Turtle Creek

Easily the most notable of Dallas’ luxury hotels, the Mansion on Turtle Creek has it all. Known as the only Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond Hotel in Texas, everything the Mansion offers, from the delicate cuisine crafted by Chef Bruno Davaillon to the Lady Primrose bath products, is of the highest quality. So it’s no surprise, then, that the Presidential Suite reflects the extravagance of the place: spacious living room, marble bathroom with golden-tapped tub, a private balcony you could land a helicopter on (although I am sure they wouldn’t advise it.). It’s all here.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel

The Ritz-Carlton is known as the premiere hotel experience worldwide (the frilly, cake-like Ritz on the beach in Cannes, France rings a bell.) In Dallas, this is no exception. The Ritz-Carlton Suite is 1,700 square feet of classic magnificence, with vaulted ceilings, one and a half bathrooms and a dining area that can seat eight, just in case you want to invite anyone into your suite dream. An added bonus: his-and-hers in-mirror TVs over the vanities in the master bathroom.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is located at 2121 McKinney Avenue in Dallas, 214-922-0200

Hotel Zaza

The Crouching Tiger Suite, one of ZaZa’s chic Magnificent Seven Suites, is 2,145 square-feet of Asian-inspired opulence. Two bedrooms, two and a half baths and a washer/dryer in the room (just in case you need to get that pair of perfectly faded jeans cleaned in a hurry) make the suite a home away from home. All seven of the suites are located in urban villas, separated from the rest of the hotel (i.e., the middle class) and can be reached through private entries. Feeling less like kimonos and more like kicking ass? Go for the Rock Star Suite.

Hotel ZaZa is located at 2332 Leonard Street in Dallas, 214-468-8399

The Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas

If it’s space you’re looking for (something that reminds you of home, perhaps?) then the Presidential Suite at the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas is your spot. With nearly 3,000 square-feet of space to stretch your legs, including a large balcony and two king-sized bedrooms, you may not want to leave the suite upon your arrival. But with several televisions. a bar and a grand piano to keep you entertained, maybe that won’t seem too bad. Check out a stellar view of Dallas from the room, and enjoy the Mokra Salon and Spa for a great unwinding session.

The Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas is located at 221 East Las Colinas Boulevard in Irving, 972-556-0800

The Adolphus

Old Dallas charm is the theme here at the Adolphus, a downtown favorite built almost 100 years ago. Situated in the financial district, you’ll find a business crowd at the bar and in the French Room restaurant, rated one of the top restaurants in America by the Zagat guide. Among their luxury suites is the best of the old and new–antique tapestries paired with flat-screen televisions and all that. The most delux suite (recently remodeled) at the Adolphus offers an in-room pool table, office, separate living area and a spacious terrace with a great view of downtown.

The Aldophus is located at 1321 Commerce Street in Dallas, 214-742-8200
