Dori’s World: Impromptu Easter Wedding for Nicole Hanley and Matthew Mellon

The charm of the Bahamas has long attracted luxury lovers looking to get away from it all. But the quaint Harbour Island, with its beautiful houses and limited number of hotels, takes the idea of luxe refuge to a whole new level. The fact that one must travel by boat from Eleuthera to get to Harbour Island, and that everyone uses golf carts and water vessels to get around, makes it spectacular.

Easter Sunday was a celebratory day for many of us, but what made this past Easter weekend even better was the surprise wedding of Nicole Hanley and Matthew Mellon.

It was an intimate affair at the home of Diane and Alex von Furstenberg. Not just the bride, but all of the guests, including Minty Mellon (daughter of the groom, wedding coordinator, bridesmaid, and ring bearer) Brooke de Campo, Alex von Furstenberg, Alexandra Miller von Furstenberg, Talita and Tassilo von Furstenberg, Ali Kay, Chris Getty, Stephan de Kwiatkowsk, model Rani Sanderson, Christian Escario, Lourdes and Pepe Fanjul, Alexes Demerin, and yours truly, were in white.

The wedding was planned in a day, so no one had white with them, which meant a stellar day of sales for the lovely Sugar Mill boutique. Later that evening there was an intimate dinner at Rock House, and some chose to peek in on Arki Busson’s cocktail party, to say “hello dahling” to the likes of Pia Getty, Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess Pavlos of Greece, Prince Pavlos, Crown Prince of the Hellenes, Uma Thurman, and Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill.

The next day the Millers had a beautiful Easter egg hunt for all of the children on the island at the amazing home. Harbour Island was buzzing with the wedding excitement; Matthew and Niccole were so happy; the only bitter sweet part was just that in the nature of eloping, family and many close friends were not in attendance. However, the good part is that we can expect another celebration soon.

After the Harbour Island wedding, the whole group retreated to relax on Lyford Cay, at the estate of Stephan de Kwiatkowsk.
