The past few seasons have been wildly successful for Burberry. Creative director Christopher Bailey has reshaped the famed British fashion house, and catapulted it into one of the strongest luxury brands on the market. With beautiful shoes, bags, clothes, accessories, and fragrance on the shelves, Burberry is now launching Burberry Beauty.
Working with Inter Parfums, their partner on fragrances, Burberry Beauty will be a 96-piece collection. And, rather than change palettes with the seasons, the company will release “novelty” items when they feel the time is right. Harrods will sell the line exclusively in the UK, and Nordstrom in the States. Mario Testino has already shot the ad campaign, which will feature Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Nina Porter, and Lily Donaldson.
Says Bailey, “It started because I felt that…the whole Burberry attitude is epitomized through the shoes, the bags, the clothes, the accessories, but then the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing makeup, I felt like we weren’t able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on makeup or then just the wrong colors, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for makeup. I wanted it to be this kind of effortless elegance.” So, while we are sure they got it right on Lily Donaldson’s super face, how will it translate to women looking to freshen their look? The collection launches this July, so you will have to find out then.
